Musical activities that I pursue outside of Berklee include the following:
Writing and producing progressive rock music with former Berklee student Alex Bresee
Orchestrating popular music (I recently orchestrated a Tool song ("Right in Two"), which has garnered some interest on Youtube).
Developing a new music notation system:
Alex Bresee and I have been discussing the philosophical implications of music notation and have been analyzing the failures of standard notation in hopes to create a new notation system that is more intuitive and easy to learn. Here are links to short essays on the subject: 1 2 3 4
Musical activities that I pursue inside of Berklee include the following:
Playing trumpet in the Contemporary Wind Orchestra for two semesters
Playing on film scoring sessions:
Trumpet (2006)
Keyboards (2008, James Roberson)
Application for the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition
Performing in "cafe" shows (I performed as the "guitar hero" in the Pinch Harmonix guitar hero cafe show (2007))
Progression in my major (film scoring):
I have two more semesters left in order to graduate as a film scoring major. I am currently taking fs-461, fs-340, and fs-341. I have received a letter grade of A- or A for every film scoring specific course I have ever taken (with overall GPA being 3.735, 6-time member of the Dean's List).
Over the summer of 2009 (the previous summer semester), I did an internship with composer/pianist Tamir Hendelman (through Berklee's LA internship program) where I worked on score preparation projects for Tamir, Natalie Cole, and others.
